Is it a Choice?

Do People Choose Their Sexual Orientation?

The Liberty Education Forum leads the way in answering this question. Our educational resources replace sound bites with sound insights and rely on facts not fear.

This question of whether or not being gay is a choice is the central to the debate over equal rights for all. While the question seems to be an anathema and archaic to many who already support broader rights for gays and lesbians, it is a question that needs to be addressed with leaders at every level. There are many well-intentioned Americans whom benefit from that questioned being answered, particularly elected officials and opinion leaders.

As Liberty Education Forum Research Fellow Chandler Burr articulates in his white paper, ‘The Only Question that Matters: Do People Choose Their Sexual Orientation’ that answering this question will largely pave the way towards enacting legislation recognizing the freedom to marry, workplace discrimination, and general acceptance in society.

Liberty Education Forum is committed to educating people about the scientific origins of sexual orientation.  Research shows that people who believe sexual orientation is chosen are less likely to support equality for gay and lesbian people.
